Private-label artwork approval without losing part identity
Keep the supplier SKU, OE reference and customer label code in separate places.
A label can help a distributor receive and sell a part, but it can also erase the trail back to the approved product. The safest artwork handover keeps three identities visible in the working file: the requested reference, the agreed supplier SKU and the customer’s own code when authorized.
Start from a field list, not a screenshot
List required text, customer code, product description, quantity, country or regulatory wording supplied by the responsible party, barcode data, artwork owner and print position. State which logos and marks are authorized. Do not copy a vehicle maker’s trademark from a catalog application field into packaging artwork.
Approve content and placement together
A readable PDF or image proof should show dimensions, colors, font size, barcode quiet area where applicable and the surface on which the label will be applied. Check SAP-B219 and SAP-B219A as separate items even though both are 8P; their OE and version fields differ.
Archive the approved proof with the order
Record artwork revision, approval date and the SKU or order lines it covers. A new product suffix, carton size or customer code should trigger a new review. Production quantity, print method, label durability and compliance remain subject to the actual written agreement.
